In memory of Gaston Bachelard, a French epistemologist born in 1884, UTT organises this fall an exposition recounting the highligths in the scientist’s life and works. The exposition is part of the national celebrations held in France to mark the 50th anniversary of Bachelard’s death. Gaston Bachelard, born in Bar-sur-Aube, not far from Troyes, belongs to the most original thinkers of the 20th century. Against the mainstream thinking of his contemporaries, he experimented very early the crossing of scientific disciplines. |
His lifelong career shows that scientific reasoning is not ooposed to artistic imagination, but that they nourish each other. The exposition entitled « Gaston Bachelard – the dawn, the day, the night », organised by UTT’s university library is open from 1st october until 30 november. A series of lectures and round-table debates on some elements of Bachelard’s world will complete the exposition between 10 and 16 october. |
