Your route: Research at the UTT Research Activities and Structures
Research activities in a university of technology must display a high level of quality on fundamental scientific work and transfer of technology. The reputation of the laboratories rests upon excellent scientific work together with good industrial relations. The UTT has set very high standards for itself in both areas.

The scientific policy of the UTT is based on three main elements:

research topics which define the scope of each research field at the UTT

research laboratories which are the operational structures

research activities which represent the actual work produced in the laboratories. Each research activity, whether it is contractual or not, has specific objectives, deadlines, financial resources and expected outcomes.

All post graduate programs at the UTT are coordinated by the Post-Graduate School and linked to the university’s research activities.

The Director of Research facilitates the implementation of the UTT's research policy and provides all the logistic support needed to ensure that activities run efficiently.

The UTT’s research structures can get support from other services or departments at the university :

the library

the computing, networking and data storage center

the industrial relations department, which provides assistance and support to all activities related to transfer of technology.

Since 1 January 2008 all the UTT research teams have joined forces under the auspices of the Charles Delaunay Institute (CDI/ICD) and have been in association with the CNRS (National Scientific Research Centre) since 2006 as a FRE. (Formation de Recherche en Evolution : FRE 2848).
Beyond the scientific excellence sought in each field of research, the objective of the CDI is to increase the synergies of its teams under the heading:

“Science and Technologies for Risk Control”

The Charles Delaunay Institute is composed of 7 research teams representing the main disciplines in Engineering and in Information and Communication Sciences and Technologies.
They are assisted by technical staff in their research activities using state-of–the-art technology. Each one with his or her specific scientific expertise helps the CDI and its institutional and industrial partners, which in turn makes large-scale multi-disciplinary research programmes possible.
More than 80% of the funding, excluding in-house researchers’ salaries, comes from research contracts, a quarter of which corresponds to contracts with companies .The results of the research carried out can be seen both in international scientific publications and technology transfer.
