Your route: International relation General information for students Health & welfare
A visit to the doctor costs 20 €. A visit to the dentist or a specialist (dermatologist, eye specialist, etc) costs around 25 €.

Students will be reimbursed at the standard French State health system rates (e.g. 70% of doctor's fees, prescriptions at varying rates). It is therefore advisable to take out private health insurance, preferably in the home country, as a top-up to make sure that all medical fees are covered. MGEL or LMDE offer private insurances to students at competitive prices.

Student Health Cover

Students from countries within the European Union are entitled to the same health care cover as French students provided that they have obtained the European Health Insurance Card or E128 Form (duly validated by the appropriate authorities in their country of origin).

Students from Quebec can benefit from the same cover as French students provided that they have obtained the SE401Q106 Form duly validated.

How to obtain reimbursement of doctor's visits and prescribed medicines, etc ?
Students will need to go to the Troyes CPAM (Health insurance Office) or write to them at:

Caisse Primaire d'Assurance Maladie,
Centre "Migrants"
113 rue Etienne Pédron,
10000 Troyes.

Tel: 03 25 76 41 41.

They will need :

  • the European Health Insurance Card or E128 Form or SE401Q106 Form (a copy is accepted)
  • doctor's prescription
  • the form given by the doctor showing details of the visit, etc
  • a "RIB" (slip of paper from the personal chequebook, giving French bank account identification and details). This applies to students who have opened a bank account in France.
Please keep the sticker that is put on each medication as it will be needed for reimbursement.

Students from countries outside the European Union:

There is a compulsory insurance coverage with either LMDE or MGEL (approximately 180 €), which private insurances cannot replace during the academic year. The coverage lasts between the 1st October and the 31st December the following year. Students will need their own personal private insurance to cover them outside that period.

How to obtain reimbursement of doctors visits and prescribed medicines, etc ?
Students should send the forms given by the doctor directly to LMDE or MGEL.

Twice a week, a nurse and / or a doctor are available at the UTT (building "L" room 008).
