Your route: International relation General information for students Cultural activities
Before the student's arrival
Before the arrival of each student, a godfather, or "buddy" is found for them, i.e. an UTT student, in the same field, who will help and support the international student throughout their stay in France. Ideally, this buddy will be able to help to answer many of the small everyday questions and problems that an international student may have, as well as perhaps inviting them to visit their family, to let them see the "real" France.

During the holiday introduction programme
Once the international students have arrived at UTT, a practical and cultural visit of Troyes is organized for them, to introduce them to their new home. Throughout the summer or winter programme (intensive introduction and language course), each weekend is devoted to trips and other cultural activities. Students are able to visit Paris and its world-famous monuments: the Eiffel tower, Champs-Elysées, Notre-Dame, the Louvre museum... A trip-of-discovery is also arranged to present our Champagne-Ardennes region: students visit champagne cellars, Renoir's art studio, a wine-making museum, the Bayel crystal workshops, a cheese museum...

In the summer, a 3-day camping trip is arranged in the National Park the "Forêt d'Orient". Students are able to participate in activities such as: canoeing, kayaking, sailing catamarans, cycling, swimming, and walking, as well as sleeping in tents.

In the winter, in addition to similar trips-of-discovery as described above, students are introduced to regional gastronomic specialties such as "raclette" (a wonderful wintery cheese meal), and the intricacies of crêpe-making.

During the semesters and special events
Visits are organized to various companies in order that students learn something about the way of operating in France. Examples of businesses already visited are: the French weather office, Michelin, the sorting office of the post office, and the SNCF workshop at Romilly.

During the semester, we try to take advantage of any museum exhibitions or special events that may take place, for example: viewing the passage of Venus in front of the sun.

Each week, students take turns to prepare a presentation of their country, which they present in the cafeteria at the UTT.

Sporting tournaments, bowling and roller-blading evenings, and shopping trips to the local factory-outlet stores are also organized. Special themed evenings are also organised from time to time, where French and international students can meet.

For Christmas, students learn how to cook a typical French meal to celebrate, a tradition which does not exist in many parts of the world, and which can be a delightful discovery for some.

Interlink is an association, designed to organize leisure activities for our international students that are open to all.

A special presentation for the 10th birthday of UTT
Wednesday September 22, 2004, was an important day, the tenth birthday of the UTT. To celebrate, a day-long "International airport" was organised. Ten different stands were installed outside the university each one occupied by a different nationality. The students decorated their stands with local crafts from their country, but also with information, photographs, posters, and tastings of culinary specialities. In the outdoor amphitheatre, the students all presented some of the customs of their countries: Mexican lasso, African percussions and dances, a Chinese dance and Taï Chi Chuan demonstration, Scottish dancing, Australian didjeridoo, Vietnamese dancing games, Korean songs, and the Viennese waltz. There was also an exhibition of books on various countries in the university library. In one lecture theatre, film documentaries on these countries were presented, and in a second, a selection of films from several of these countries was presented, each in their original language with French subtitles. It was a great success and participants were able to make a complete world tour in only one day!
